Life Beckons

Life Beckons: Initial Drawing

This artwork was a commissioned piece, a companion to the previous gothic creation Grim Tidings. The color scheme was kept muted, like the original piece, but instead of death or horror themes, light and growth reign free.

Headless Horseman

Headless Horseman: Initial Drawing

I've always loved Washington Irving's "Legend of Sleepy Hallow". Here is my version of the classic gothic character, complete with a zombie horse. The pencil drawing was colored in Photoshop, with a slight fog added to the background.

Artwork: Black Dragon

. Posted by Sherrie Thai of ShaireProductions.com

Black Dragon

This is the first time I incorporated coffee and tea in my artwork. Since I'm not a coffee drinker, the small coffee grinds in the kitchen were finally of use. Also, I found that Darjeeling tea had a darker color over Lipton.

After a few washes, diluted sumi ink was splattered by tapping on the paintbrush. The dragon was then applied with several pens on the very forgiving clayboard. Overall, the creative process was very fun and satisfying.

Old Mechanical Dragon

Old Mechanical Dragon: Initial Drawing

"Old Mechanical Dragon" is another mixed media piece that had its start as an ink drawing and now lives as a photoshop-textured creation. Dragons are a favorite subject of mine, and they're always an adventure to produce. I wanted to explore rusty surfaces and took some artistic licenses to my winged creature. The background is a grungy photo texture from one of my many walks around SF.

Artwork: Steampunk Transitions

. Posted by Sherrie Thai by Shaireproductions.com

Steampunk Transitions

"Steampunk Transitions" is a result of my fascination with the steampunk style. There is a nod to mysticism with the incorporation of feathers, which function as a shamanic headdress. The piece was created with graphite and photoshop coloring.

Mountains

This drawing was inspired by the watercolor landscapes of Asian masters. Majority of the artwork was created with a brush pen (Faber Castell, Shades of Grey). The sky was done with graphite as I wanted a subtler, toned-down effect.

Artwork: The Snake Charmer

The Snake Charmer

Posted by Sherrie Thai of Shaire Productions.

The Snake Charmer is pen and digital piece that is part of the "Tomato de Arbol" #4 zine (Argentina), focusing on Fables. I was influenced by the story of the Pied Piper, luring snakes instead of people.
